| The Whitelums pedigree
Limousin cattle herd was formed in November 1992 with the purchase
of 2 heifers from the Red Ladies sale in Carlisle.
On that winter's day, we took responsibility for the welfare of Roughley Fragrance,
a Tanhill Brilliant daughter and College Gemma by Talent.
We retained our heifers and in 1994 privately purchased Broadmeadows Idee.
At the Broadmeadows dispersal in 1995 we purchased Lauren and Lisa and have
remained a closed herd since until 2003 when we bought Cwm Tirion at the Red
Ladies and 2004 when we bought Bailea Uhoo and Bailea Uonyx at the November
Bailea sale at Carlisle. To date we have increased in numbers so that this
year our herd currently runs to 52 head. We have used AI
and over the years have used a number of quality Limousin bulls in the quest
for conformation, size and temperament. More recently we have used our own
bull Whitelums Richie and also some French A.I sires. See our home grown bulls
on the bulls page.
Over the years our cows have
produced some notable calves, most being sold to commercial
producers. Whitelums Louis was sold to the Roughley herd
at the 1997 winter sale at Carlisle where he came second
in his
class to the overall champion. Louis has so far produced
around 40 pedigree registered Limousin calves and is currently
8th
in the Calving Value trait leaders. Progeny have sold to
6,800 gns May 2002 Carlisle. (Roughley Rockafella)
Feb 2006 Carlisle - Whitelums Vijay a son of Whitelums Ritchie
out of Whitelums Ruth was Reserve Junior Champion and sold
for 5000gns
Feb 2006 Thainstone - Whitelums Vince another son of Whitelums
Ritchie and out of Whitelums Rosie was
Overall Limousin Champion and
sold for 2800gns.
